Gender Reveal πŸ’™πŸ‘ΆπŸΌπŸ’—

Standard

Last night we had some our good friends over for a midsummer BBQ. We lucked out with the weather and sitting in the garden munching on our charred sausages and toasted marshmallows it actually felt like summer..

It was only a few weeks back we decided that we would incorporate a gender reveal into the night as it was only a couple of weeks after our scan. My wonderful friend and baker Kate took the role of cake maker and the plan was put in place. I also ordered a cute sign from Couronne Boutique on Etsy.

So the reveal… We are having…

Another little boy!!! πŸ’™πŸ‘ΆπŸΌπŸ’™ We are thrilled and so excited now.

I’m not going to lie, we really thought it was a girl-this pregnancy has been sooo for different but as I can see now that is bulls*it!

On the day the sonographer typed the gender on the scan and we went to the Shelbourne to raise a glass to our baby bump.

It was a special moment opening the envelope and when we saw the news we were shocked but happy. In the actual scan you couldn’t care less what it is but having seen a clear picture of the face I did a u turn and thought it could be a boy, I was right!

The next day as the nervous adrenalin left my system with relief that all was ok. I must honestly admit I was an emotion I still can’t describe-far from disappointment, definitely not sadness but something I could not put my finger on. My husband {who knows me well} reckoned ultimately that we wanted Josh to me a boy and we got our boy, we kind of naturally wanted this to be a girl and we didn’t ‘get what we wanted’ and that was what perturbed me. Ha! He’s probably right!

The very next day when the news sunk in, that feeling diminished and the excitement & planning πŸ˜‰started to build for the next little boy due in our house this Autumn.

Yes the above sounds fickle and of course you just overridingly want your baby to be healthy and we are so thankful and lucky that we got such great news. However I have always tried to be honest on this blog and those initial feelings that I still don’t have a description for where there. I had an irrational moment of feeling I might be left out in years to come but I realise that is ridiculous and your relationship with your children, regardless of sex is what you make it. God knows if we ever go onto have more we could end up with a football team!

The purchasing and planning for a boy has begun. Yes I have a lot of stuff from Josh, which is so handy as thier birthdays are very close so everything will work seasonally but I didn’t know Josh was going to be a boy so the early items are very gender neutral so I am taking the excuse to buy a few cute little boy items and planning the nursery accordingly too. Practicality wise and for the planning side of me this is working out spectacularly!

Every day the excitement is building for baby boy to arrive and it was a lovely moment to share the news with our friends. Things have happened in recent times which has significantly altered my outlook and I truly believe that the path laid out for you is the way things are meant to be and we sure are delighted about our next big life event happening this October!

  1. I just had my baby gender reveal party last Sunday, I have a 2 year old boy and this time around the pregnancy has been a lot different so i thought for sure we were having a girl….we are just like you guys having another boy. I was a little upset but it’s only because I won’t get to experience all the girly things and buying girl dresses and bows. I too will get over this. Congrats to your family for another healthy boy!

    • It just shows every pregnancy is different and I think as you go on you me body is tireder and that brings it own symptoms! Congrats to you too… Happy times ahead.
