When this came into my inbox it caught my eye. It sounded so lovely I wanted to share…We are not around on that evening and it does seem driven towards slightly older kids but some of the events sound great! 

Museums, galleries, cathedrals, studios, observatories, libraries, parks, government buildings and theatres will throw open their doors for FREE visits, tours, workshops, readings, performances and demonstrations for the eleventh Culture Night. Since its inception, Culture Night has continued to grow from 40,000 attendees in 2006 to become Ireland’s most popular cultural evening with 370,000 attendees around the country last year.

An after-hours family experience full of fun discovery for adults and children (0-9yrs) to explore an interactive educational museum and engage in creative imaginative play. Children’s Books Ireland @ Hodges Figgis

Families are welcome to join Irish illustrator Chris Judge (The Lonely Beast) and Canadian illustrator Sydney Smith (Footpath Flowers) to celebrate creativity at Hodges Figgis. Chris and Sydney will be creating art in the beautiful historical window, while the CBI Book Doctors prescribe the perfect books for young readers.

Take a guided tour of Croke Park and immerse yourself in our sporting and cultural heritage. Visit the GAA Museum and enjoy a hurley-making demo, museum exhibits and Interactive Skills Zone. Enjoy the new exhibition “Ireland’s Olympians” which celebrates the achievements of the nation’s sportsmen and sportswomen and includes Olympic medals and memorabilia from 1924-2012. Chester Beatty Library

A drop-in family workshop inspired by animals found in the Chester Beatty Library’s collections. Create your own origami zoo or foam pufferfish, take a guided tour of the Chester Beatty Library’s treasures or try out Activity Packs for children aged 3-11 years or Drawing Packs suitable for teens and adults.

 

Science Gallery

Join the Science Gallery for Culture Night and play with your perception at their exhibition, SEEING: WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? Your chance to watch as robots becomes artists, brains become scanners, and explore how machines may change the way we look at our world.

 

YMCA Dublin

Enjoy Family Yoga & Story Time at the YMCA. Family Yoga incorporates age-appropriate yoga poses breathing exercises and relaxation techniques. Benefit from increased strength flexibility and balance.

 

Royal Academy of Irish Music

The RIAM’s annual feast of music-making on Culture Night promises visitors to No 36 Westland Row a fun, informal and highly-engaging evening of entertainment. Enjoy open classes, instrument try-outs and music performances by some of their finest emerging young talents and seasoned stars.
