A night away and a new lease of life..

Standard

A few weekends ago I went to London with my oldest pal for two days and one night to the great city of London. We are both mamas and know each other inside out so we’re perfect companions for this treat!

It was an early start but with the level of excitement in the air not a wink of sleep was had on the red eye flight. We arrived at the hotel and continued straight out to the wonderful Borough Market, just near London Bridge-a must for any foodie. A drooly wanderer and a pit stop for some yummy market grub picking up the most scrumcious donut on our way out for an afternoon treat.

It was time for some shopping and we headed to Oxford St and Covent Garden, only a few purchases were made due the crazy current exchange rate but just wandering aimlessly felt such a novelty and finished off in the sharp spring sunshine over a cuppa and that epic donut rounded our day off well.

was time to get the glad rags on and head to Soho… We had a pre dinner cocktail in the Ham Yard hotel which was very buzzy and where we were seated was a lovely setting for our tasty tipple. Then it was to the much anticipated Nopi by Ottelenghi and it didn’t disappoint-delish doesn’t do it justice. A fab meal with gorg dishes, wine and company with lots of chats. We wanted one more but the bodies were weary after the 4am start we said we might go in for one if we passed somewhere suitable and next we stubbed on an old haunt of mine, Momos. Momos is a morrcocan bar and restaurant which was very popular a few years ago and I had a been a few times with my family-I knew there mojitos still had to be good so we settled into the kasba style setting for the last drink of the night.

A taxi trip home and me falling asleep mid sentence finished off a super day 1.
Day 2 feeling rested with duller weather we explored Islington and then spitafileds market. A very cool little spot. We had booked another recommendation for lunch an again it didn’t disappoint, if a little on the pricey side-The Modern Pantry. Then a final flurry to the great shops of Regent St, a head pop into the wonderful Liberty and to finish a Hot Chocolate experience in Claridges. Claridges is fab but next time I think I’d have a vino!

It was back to the airport and the excitement of seeing my 2 boys built. The trip, whilst busy gave me time to reflect, time for me and a new outlook coming home.
Life is life, it can be tricky and tiring at times but my goodness can it be wonderful and for the most part mine truly is. I need to embrace this phase of my life now-keep noting my journey here (even if the posts become shorter) and look forward to all that spring has to hold.

We are off to Cork this weekend so will fill you in on our family friendly holiday on our return.
