Pregnancy Update: 26 Weeks

Standard

All going well, the heats a killer but hey ho it also brings a nice hormonal tan that I’m not complaining about. Next update I’ll be on the count down not the count up!

I have also written a small piece about Strep B which was spoke about a lot in the UK press this week..

How far along? 26 weeks

Total weight gain? Nearly 2 stone now but I put on 3 with Josh so kind of on track for the same.

Maternity clothes? All about the comfy clothes-see my post here.

Stretch marks? Got this cream so hoping this will do the job till I top up on oil

Sleep: This heat is not helping!

Best moment this week: Getting some bits for the baby in Mothercare

Miss anything? Having more energy to play/run around with Josh.

Food cravings: I loved fruit on Josh and I love fruit this time too but I also like cake 😉

Anything making you queasy or sick? This is subsiding a little, finally, thank god! Still not great with certain smells.

Gender: See post-Another boy!

Labour signs: No!

Symptoms: Very sore shoulder pain but a massage has eased it for now.

Belly button in or out? Very out with a little ‘lip-eewww

Wedding rings on or off: Still on but the eternity ring which is a little smaller comes off on hotter days as its a little tight.

Happy or moody most of the time: A little snappier, especially in this heat but then I keep getting bursts of overwhelming happiness about what lies ahead!

Looking forward to: My next post when I’ll be 30 weeks-exciting!

Strep B

I have Strep B it was discovered after an internal exam at 16 weeks when I had a small bleed. As you will see below it can cause a risk if undetected but in my case I will be given 2 doses of anti biotics during labour to prevent transmission to baby and minimise risk. Having said that I had a pretty fast first time labour with Josh and there needs to be a 4 our gap between each dose so my midwives are not sure that I will get the time to get the second dose in on number 2. 😬 This will mean a 48 hour stay in hospital with bubs so he can be monitored.. On the Domino scheme which I am on you are usually out within a few hours. You will see more info below but my main concern would be that this is not a routine test in most hospitals. Having said that it is a transient infection so can show up one day and not the next which means it can be hard to pin point. Best thing you can do is know the facts and ask your caregiver about it too at your antenatal appointments.
