Bookawoo

Standard

I got contacted by the founder of Bookawoo a few months ago and once they launched they kindly sent us a sample of the book box that is personalised for each child.

They own a toy shop in Howth, Co Dublin and after reading to thier own two children since the age of 1 they came up with the idea.

What is Bookawoo?

Bookawoo is a subscription service which sends your child a magical monthly box with a selection of books to help broaden and develop their imagination. Each month has a new theme and is designed to encourage a love of reading. When you subscribe you can skip a month or cancel any time. For children aged between 0 to 11.

What in a Bookawoo Box?

 Every month has a new theme, and is an exciting time for your child to open their Bookawoo box. Each box is personalised to the child age and filled with fun and educational books. At Bookawoo we take great time and care to select beautiful interesting books for children.

I loved the idea and the box arrived to great excitement from Josh. The books inside were of great quality but perhaps a little above Josh’s age group so maybe the age bands could be shortened slightly-I think I chose 2-5 years.
The monthly subscription is €26.95, €23.95 for the first month. You can cancel or skip a month any time. My favourite idea is the gift a box, also costing €26.95. What a lovely gift for any friend or family kids that you know.

Find out more about it here and get some pressies of your list by ordering a few Bookawoo’s too!

Glenisk Promo Pack

Standard

We are right in the midst of the six nations and we were lucky enough to to recieve a lovely pack from Glenisk.

Glenisk is a brand we regularly use in our house, Josh has made his yoghurt journey through their baby and kid options.

Thier new range are high in protein which is a real ‘buzz word’ at the moment so a great one to have in the fridge for snacks, adding to smoothies or as a side to fruit or savoury dish.

Glenisk is now the Official Yogurt of Irish Rugby, providing yogurt to both the National Men’s and Women’s teams. Our IRFU partnership is featured on our new Glenisk’s Authentically Strained Fat Free Greek Yogurt. Free from artificial ingredients, the yogurt comes in 9 delicious flavours and contains double the protein – great nutrition for busy days, fuelling workouts and helping recovery after exercise.

I’m not a huge yoghurt fan and unfortunately the fruit flavours were high in sugar so not suitable for Josh but I think for the health concious it a great post work out snack and the natural flavour is a great addition to nutribullet smoothies too for that extra protein kick!

And if nothing else this ad is pretty funny 😂🇮🇪 #eatlikethem

Cardtrix App Launch

Standard

I was delighted to be asked to attend the launch of Cardtrix, a new loyalty shopping app on Monday. It was held in The Fitzwilliam Hotel and launched by the lovely Pippa O’Connor.

{Pippa launching the App}

Turning your smart phone into a digital wallet, Cardtrix is a new loyalty app, bespoke for the Irish market, that supports all major retail loyalty programmes in Ireland, including the top three loyalty programmes; Tesco Clubcard, Dunnes Stores and Boots, in addition, to Brown Thomas, Arnotts, Easons and more.
Fiachra, the creator of the app gave us a full run through of how it works and any questions were answered. I wouldn’t be very tech savvy but I really couldn’t believe how easy is was to set up! No more forgetting my card or cramming my wallet/keys with numerous loyalty cards-they are now all on the app and I even managed to add a few more-simples!

{Myself and Fiachra}

I attended with Ali from Hey Ali blog and it was a really nice opportunity to catch up with fellow bloggers too. Not only a lovely day out but a great app too which I know I will use loads.

{Yes I am wearing heels 🙈👠}

It is available now to download for free from the App Store/Google Play Store for both I phone and Anroid. My only tip would be have your loyalty card details-log ins etc to hand before setting up so you can get them all done together!

 Dettol Range-Review

Standard

A few weeks ago I got sent some of Dettols range of cleaning goods. Now I’m not going to lie and claim I am the primary cleaner in our house, we get a cleaner once a week but even at that there is always cleaning to be done in between.

We usually buy our cleaning products from one of the discount supermarkets and whilst they are fine they sometimes don’t quite do the job on the dried in porridge or weetabix!

I started by using the Power & Pure spray which I found to be very good with no residue and overpowering smell but sorted stains fast!

Due to my cleaning laziness but need for a clean and tidy house I do love a good wipe and I found the Dettol ones great however the pack is quite small for the rrp. The wipes are great for giving toys the once over at the end of the day.

Finally one I haven’t used yet but know I would have found very useful in the early days with Josh. It is a no wash hand wash with E45 cream. Really handy after the constant nappies and general hand hygiene around the tiny babies!

Dettol is not usually my first choice when purchasing hiusehold cleaning products, probably due to the higher price point but now seeing the distinct difference from the discount brands I genuinely think I’ll be popping more products in my trolley soon.

Whilst doing a bit of research I went onto thier site and it’s handy for tips and general product information.

Review-Pip & Pear

Standard

I was delighted to be sent another lovely range of Irish made kids products last week. It was a perfect time with my husband being away too-I had nutritious meals as a standby for Josh.

“Pip & Pear Chilled Baby Food is the best alternative to home cooking with all of the goodness and none of the guilt!” The ingredients include Organic Fruit and Vegetables, Organic Gluten Free Baby Pasta, Bord Bia Approved Irish Beef, Lamb and Chicken and Bord Iascaigh Mhara approved Fish.

I really loved the fun packaging and convenient little tubs. The price point is good too and I know I would have definitely had them in my shopping trolley when weaning Josh. Unfortunately mushed food is no longer his thing but he loved the fruit pots. I tasted the ones we used and they all tasted really wholesome and flavoursome too.

I hated the bulk purée sessions in Josh’s early stages of eating so for mums heading into that stage, I say give yourselves a break every now and then and pick up a Pip & Pear and rest assured your little one is consuming a healthy meal with less of the stress for you!
